The tour will depart from Alila Seminyak lobby at 7:30, and travel through mountains and volcanic lakes towards the Bedugal area. Just beyond, we will stop for coffee and a simple breakfast and photo opportunity by Lake Buyan and Lake Tamblingan. Then we visit the local Tigawasa school - where upgrades, equipment, teacher training, teaching, curriculum, tablets and computer equipment are funded by Further East.
Further East x Bali Children Foundation funds the assets and teachers who provide sound foundational learning to these students. Guests will join and interact with the children during small group activities. Then, we will visit 'Homm' Baturiti, a high-standard modern hotel with beautiful views. We will enjoy an excellent lunch before returning to South Bali. Expected return time 4pm.
The visit will include the distribution of the stationary kits and backpacks prepared as part of the Community Project at Further East 2024.
This is an excellent opportunity to see what Further East delegate donations are funding, and to understand how a grassroots organization like Bali Children Foundation can deliver intensive, effective education opportunities that impact this generation and beyond.
NB: We recommend that only able-bodied persons join the tour, as the locations include some steps (no ramps available) that can be steep. Age is not limited as long as the participants can easily walk and manage some steep steps. Bring a shawl or cardigan, as the mountains can be cool in the morning.

DAY 1 - Sandakan - Sepilok - Sukau Rainforest Lodge (By Boat)
Our adventure begins as we pick you up from the Sandakan Airport or your hotel in Sandakan, then we’ll head straight to Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre. There, you'll get to learn about the rehabilitation effort done at the center through a short video screening. Make your way to the feeding platform to witness the feeding of orangutans and other monkeys around. You can also spend time observing the cheeky little younglings in an enclosed nursery area.
After lunch, embark on a 2.5 hour journey by speedboat up the Kinabatangan River to Sukau Rainforest Lodge.
Right after checking-in, go on board for a late afternoon cruise in search of Borneo's wildlife and birds. Return to the lodge to savor a scrumptious dinner at Melapi restaurant, followed by a slide presentation and interpretation by a naturalist guide. [Lunch/Dinner]
DAY 2 - Sukau Rainforest Lodge
Rise and shine for the morning river cruise up the Kinabatangan River to Kelenanap oxbow lake to view more birds and wildlife. After breakfast, join in the nature walk along the lodge's Hornbill Boardwalk with the in-house naturalist. It will be free at leisure after lunch. In the afternoon, proceed for another river cruise to check off your wildlife sightings. [Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner]
DAY 3 - Sukau Rainforest Lodge - Sandakan - Transfer out (by boat)

Each year our FAM trip highlights a different side of China, starting in the cosmopolitan hub of Shanghai and ending in the imperial (and current) capital of Beijing. For 2024 we are excited to be featuring the giant pandas and spicy cuisine of Sichuan followed by the rice terraces, karst mountains and rural village life of Guangxi. As you may know, China has returned to normal entry and exit procedures, removing all health checks, codes, etc. The only thing needed for entry is a visa (if required). As such, we are happy to say that international travel has returned to the Middle Kingdom, bolstered by a slurry of new hotels which have opened over the last few years, many new high-speed train lines, and increasing international flights. As such, we believe that now is the perfect time to visit China, and what better way to do that than on our FAM!
